This residence is tucked in the foothills above Boulder, Colorado. The project was driven by the difficult site constraints and what seemd to be “un-buildable” setback conditions. The design became a compact footprint with the garage being the uppermost level above the living spaces.
Both day-lighting and a direct connection to earth mass were passive strategies utilized in this design. A majority of the construction utilized ICF (insulated Concrete Form) construction with an R-50 insulating value.
